Orientation Day (Year 6 going into Year 7, 2024)

Orientation Day will be held on Tuesday, 5 December as part of our transition program to Belridge Secondary College. This day is an opportunity for your child to meet other Year 6 students enrolled in Year 7 at Belridge Secondary College for 2024 and experience a typical day at Belridge.

Parents will also have the opportunity to have a tour of the school during the morning of Orientation Day.

PURPOSE: To familiarise the Year 6 students and parents with the Administration staff, facilities, layout and routine of Belridge Secondary College.

Students will be placed into their Form groups and given a full day’s timetable. This will include a morning assembly followed by four periods in Learning Areas such as Arts, Design and Technology, Information Technology, Science, Home Economics and Physical Education.

Parents will be offered a tour of the school in the morning, concluding at 10 am.

Finish time: 2.50pm

ARRIVAL: Students are required to assemble in the College gymnasium for an 8.45am start. Students will be placed into their Form groups for the day, which will become their Form group and House when they commence Year 7 in 2024.

For parents staying for a tour, please meet at the front of the school.

Please Note: Normal school time starts at 8.45am. Parents, please do not arrive or drop off your children before 8.30am. If other arrangements need to be made, please contact the school.

TRANSPORTATION: As students will be attending from many different primary schools, parents and carers are responsible for their childs’ transportation to and from Belridge Secondary College.

DRESS: Students must wear their normal primary school uniform.

RECESS AND LUNCH: Recess and lunch will be fully supervised by staff. Students are to bring their own packed recess and lunch. Students will only have the opportunity to purchase food from the café if they have pre-ordered, please see website > OUR COLLEGE > CANTEEN for details on how to sign up to our online ordering platform.

Please ensure your child has a water bottle for the day.

PEER SUPPORT: Each group will be under the direction of Year 9 Peer Support Leaders, to assist in finding the timetabled rooms and to keep each group on time.

TIMETABLE: The timetable for Year 6 is slightly different from the normal college times. Normal Period times are 62 minutes. The Year 6’s for this day will be on a similar timetable with some adjustments. They will receive an individual timetable for the day upon arrival.

DEPARTURE TIME: At 2.50pm all students will be escorted back to the main front gates by their Period 5 teacher to be collected. Normal school closing time is 3.05pm. to assist with traffic congestion, we would appreciate if all Year 6 students were collected from the school grounds before 3.00pm and parents and guardians avoid parking in the bus bays.
