ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY … EMBRACING CURIOSITY
Our Academic Enrichment Programs in STEM and Humanities provide the platform for our students to develop the knowledge, skills and core competencies required for the careers of the future. With a focus on the development of higher order skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, team work and entrepreneurship, students will develop personal attributes and employable skills putting them at the forefront of our future workforce .
Learning experiences for our gifted and talented students extend well beyond the classroom and include; university immersion activities, guest speakers, industry partnerships and experiences, competitions across learning areas, specialist tutoring, incursions, excursions and enrichment activities.
The AEP Program is overseen by a dedicated coordinator who is a successful classroom teacher and brings extensive experience in working with gifted students to the role. The coordinator works closely with families and students to ensure every opportunity for success is available, and clear and open communication exists between the school and home.

ELITE DANCE PROGRAM

NEVER MISS A CHANCE TO DANCE
If you have a passion for dance, a mind for creativity and a body for movement then our Elite Dance Company could be for you.
The Elite Dance Program at Belridge SC creates an environment that fosters the talents of our young people whilst expanding their skills and confidence across a range of genres.
Rehearing in our new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre, dancers will train in several dance styles including jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, classical ballet technique and choreography. They will also explore different training approaches in the areas of anatomy and biomechanics of movement, stage production and injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Led by experienced and dedicated staff, the program is designed to challenge dancers through performances, annual showcases and competitions. As students grow through the program (and schooling years) they will have opportunity to learn foundational skills related to theatre production such as sound editing, lighting design, marketing and ticket sales. This program compliments curriculum delivery in Year 7-10 and provides pathway into Senior School options or full-time dance study.
Elite dancers will represent our college at concerts, competitions, and other community performances. Students also participate in excursions to view professional dance performances by world renowned dance companies visiting Perth. In addition, the school will welcome a range of guest artists to delivery classes, workshops and/or masterclasses for the young dancers. BSC is proud to offer dedicated dancers an elite level of training within the public education system.
Previous experience or training is desirable, but not essential however a passion for the arts, movement and performance is fundamental.

SPECIALIST CRICKET PROGRAM

DO YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR CRICKET AND A COMMITMENT TO BEING PART OF A TEAM?
The skill trials are held near the end of Term 1 each year (Thursday 30 March 2023) for entry in the following academic year. Male and female students in Years 6 to 10 are encouraged to apply. Our endorsed specialist cricket program provides a first class education for both male and female cricketers. As part of this program students are exposed to a holistic cricket education. Through the provision of quality coaching and access to excellent facilities your child will be challenged and supported to achieve at the highest level. Students will be provided with a number of opportunities to excel in the game, such as involvement in Interschool and State competitions, attendance on camps and graduation at the prestigious WACA. Being a part of our program is a rewarding experience, watching students grow not only on the pitch but as leaders in the school community.

SPECIALIST FASHION DESIGN

DO YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN FASHION AND LIKE TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX?
Then the Belridge Secondary College’s Fashion Design program could be the program for you! Our award-winning Fashion Design program fosters student creativity, promoting individual expression through textile and garment design. Working in our specialist fashion studio, students have the opportunity to pursue their passion and demonstrate their artistic flair.
The Fashion Design program has a clear pathway into our senior school course and post-school training opportunities. Industry partnerships provide our students with the opportunity to work side by side with designers, enter local and national competitions and develop their own signature style. Highlights of the program include:
Wearable Art projects, fashion illustration, design and surface decoration of fabrics, using the tools of the trade, including sewing machines, pressing stations and overlockers, using technology to create and print original designs, compete in state and national competitions, beading and other embellishment techniques, fibre exploration, deconstructions and reconstruction upcycled fashion, study fashion companies and runway productions.

ELITE MUSIC PROGRAM

WHY JUST LISTEN WHEN YOU CAN CREATE?
If you wish to reach a deeper appreciation for the wonder of music and experience the joy that comes from being a part of its creation, then our Elite Music Program is for you.
As part of this course, students will study the language of music and use this knowledge to compose their own pieces. They will actively listen to music across a wide range of styles to decipher their inner workings and broaden their experiences. As part of this program students will engage with a variety of technological tools to enhance the compositional and mixing components of the course and enrich the learning experience.
In addition to the development of musical skill covered through the course, participants will develop vital life skills including creative thinking, collaboration, confidence and perseverance. These key attributes and skills are crucial elements in their development, setting a path for success across the curriculum and beyond school. In partnership with the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS), students have access to a range of specialist instrumental teachers and several ensemble groups. Through our program students will also have many exciting opportunities to perform at events and concerts within the school and in the wider community in a range of solo and group contexts.

SPECIALIST NETBALL PROGRAM

2024 INTAKE TRIALS – SECOND ROUND – THURSDAY 7 SEPTEMBER
Our Specialist Netball Academy is endorsed as a Netball WA Tier 2 Specialist School and could be for you. Our school has built a reputation for excellence with its academic , specialist and school-based programs. The elite Netball Program has been supporting students to be their best since 2013.
The academy continues to go from strength to strength as a Netball WA Tier 2 endorsed school and is now a comprehensive program running from Year 7-12. Senior school students have the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Cert III in Sport & Recreation, with BSC being one of only a few schools being granted approval to deliver this qualification level.
Throughout the week, students will work on skill development, game tactics and strategies, biomechanics, sports psychology and fitness. Our holistic program also has a strong focus on team work, collaboration and personal health and wellbeing. Netball students are leaders within our school, and develop leadership skills through coaching, mentoring and umpiring.
